Funny how you look at shots in general. After reading comments, I didn't even notice that the 463 and Cow shot was a freight train. All I saw was two trains, and one had a rider gon. The other stuff struck me more than what was behind the 463. Therefore I think I was right in picking this one cause it conveys so much, beyond the freight car/passenger car thing.
As for you comments Rich, I agree about getting more people in it. Again why I liked #3.
The ultimate shots for PR would be to have a shot taken from the back of the rider gon, looking forward with folks gazing at the scenery, and in the distance you see two K36's working hard around a curve, with some great scenery above or to the side of the train. This shot would work well at Los Pinos Tank, or maybe below Windy Point. You get people, train, engines, and scenery. You could stage someone pointing at something as well for emphasis.
I'd like to see color versions of the photos if there are any. Especially those that looked like fall colors. I hope they go someplace else for a Rock Tunnel shot. Didn't Don Richter or someone have a nice Rock tunnel shot of the Passenger train with a cleaner engine???
