I picked my choices before reading all the comments and other choices.
First Choice #3
This shot conveys lots of activity, with TWO trains, plus the cow gives a western, laid-back feel,and the scenery in the background sells it.
Second Choice #1- This is a straight forward good clean 3/4 shot, which shows the passenger cars, and the fact there are two engines on the train, which conveys power to the riders. The shot is well lit, which is very important.
I must say overall this is a great batch of photos, with all of them well composed. I think they appear to be fall colors, thus the good low light, which makes or breaks an image!
Honorable mention: #7 Rock Tunnel. I did not list it as 1 or 2 since the engine was really dirty, and the tank car is not a passenger car. Its obviously a photo special. Okay for the fans, but not the tourists.
I really liked the Cresco shot, but without the colors its a lot of trees, and head-on shot of the train. So, I stick with #3 and #1.
