True, Jeff -
But they ARE a part of history. #483 was still wearing them - and the bright red counterweights - when she pulled the NPS Special in November, 1968, and when she was turned over to the C&TS on September 1, 1970 (see [
ngdiscussion.net]). The atrocious red counterweights were finally undone for the filming of 'Shootout' in the fall of 1970, but IIRC she kept the gold cylinders for the rest of the year. And of course when #487 was forced to stand in for #483 during the 40th Anniversary Celebration in August, 2010, the poor gal got the full histörically correct Hollywierd make-up treatment
