OK here is a top that deer story. While returning home one Sunday afternoon from a jaunt outside the county, we were traveling through the Wallowa River canyon. The hwy is normal two lane and quite a lot of curves one right after the other for 5 miles or so. Like mentioned above late afternoon to early evening it is bad because the deer come down from feeding to water. My wife was driving our mini van following a small sporty car. The sports car hit a deer at a good speed like maybe 70. We did not see the impact or anticipate as we were back a little bit following. We realized there was an air borne deer about 8-10' off the ground headed straight for us. My wife did a very quick evasive manouver into the oncoming lane where thankfully no one was coming and the deer passed by my side window. The sports car had a very tapered profile with the front of the hood almost to the bumper. Being low to the ground the deer apart from perhaps it's legs never really made impact with the car as the wedge of the cars profile and sloped windshield swooshed the deer right up and over. The sports car kept driving and we didn't go back to check on Mr. Deer.
