My recent experience in Silverton Sept 2015 was two-fold. We chased the train to Rockwood(got both), then drove to Silverton and got one of them Arriving at the station, then shot from the overlook and left. We wanted to spend more time, but health and elevation was playing havoc.
The next day we rode the train, and luckily I had reserved a golf cart.
Our train was rather late, so we got the cart, drove around for a place to eat and all looked packed. We found a grocery, and got a deli sandwich.
The wife wanted to look around, so I dropped her off in town, and headed to the depot to get the second train(I didn't have time to get it, since we were late and it was apparently close behind). Then I went to the wye
to get our train pulling out, allowing for the second train to back in and service. Then I headed to the depot where our train with 480 had just stopped backing up, got some shots, and went to find the wife. The point is we did not have much idle time when it was all said and done. We were pretty hungry by the time we reached DGO. However I am not the average rider, as I was there more for the steam than the ammenities(Other than the golf cart!
).
