Hi,

A quick look at Wikapedia shows a map of Indian lands c1930-40. No Indian lands were claimed near (say 50-75 miles) Dahlonega. The whites kept wanting more land to farm and squatted on land that happened to be in Indian Nation lands (in violation of Federal treaties). Of the five tribes that were involves, only the Seminole in Florida were not in or around Northern Georgia.

Could the gold near Dahlonega have had been a partial cause? I would not rule that out.
