The engines are sitting on D&RGW-owned track on a siding on the north side of the Chama Mainline, not C&TS owned track. The C&TS yard was not created until the spring of 1971.

Somebody must have re-connected the C&TS to the outside world long enough to put those engines in there, and to remove them in the spring of 1971.
