Hey, those planes aren't THAT old. I trained in T-6s, and flew Mk 4 Harvard's (the same thing) with the German Air Force for a couple of years afterwards.
Before flight training I used to bum rides all over the country in B-25s. I usually got back by Monday morning, but if I didn't, a day of KP was a small price for having fun.
In addition, I flew AC-47s (C-47s (DC-3) with three gatling guns) in Nam, You haven't lived until you take on a Quad 50 Cal machine gun and 37 MM canons, in a plane designed in the early 1930s
