Russ,
As for rarity, the B-17 is rarer than the B-25. There are approximately 30 B-25's air-worthy, and 12 B-17(only 10 in the U.S.). There were 13 total until Liberty Belle Burned up a few years back.
There are only two B-24's left flying, and one is a hybrid I am told.
The list of WW2 planes I have seen is not very long but here it is(My main interest is WW2 Only)
AT-6 (or SNj) Trainors.....maybe 6 different ones (our museum has one)
P-51 (Mustang) Have seen 3 different including the one at our Museum
SBD Dauntless (saw 1). Supposedly only 2 operational
B-25 (6 different) includes the one at our museum I flew in
B-17 (have seen 3) Liberty Belle, Movie Memphis Belle, and Aluminum Overcast
B-29 Superfortress (1 flying)
TBM (navy torpedo Bomber) We have one, and its huge for single engine
Have only been doing video here and there since 2011 on Warbirds. Fun change from trains now and then, but trains are easier to video!!!!
