Of course there is always an exception. In our case the exception is former Western Maryland #6.
#6 has a standard "Master Mechanic's" smoke box arrangement where the exhaust gases and cinders are directed to the bottom of the smokebox and forward before going upward through a screen and up the stack. The screen traps the cinders before they go up the stack. Unlike the "naked" smoke box in which all the cinders go up the stack, this kind traps the cinders in the smoke box and requires regular cleaning.
