Stubs went away mostly when the rail got heavier and "bending the rail" became too hard. There was some incentive to keep stubs on side tracks in areas that got a lot of snow since no points to clean.

So look for stubs on side tracks with lighter rail that aren't used as frequently, such as the already pointed out Elk Park & Rockwood wyes or the passing track x-over at Sargent. Or on main tracks that still have light (less than 65 lb?) rail such as Jefferson on the South Park or a lot of the RGS...
