Ed, I am wondering what you mean by "fake fat stack". SVRy added Rushton spark arrester stacks to all of the 5 Mikado's in the 20's. They are sometimes called cabbage stacks. They were also added to several of the wood burning OLc geared engines. They were certainly not fake as they must have been found superior for wood burning engines. The above photo shows the diamond stack that was being used early on which I like the appearance of. Not a very happy photo as it is in the aftermath of the round house fire. There are a number of other modifications to the engines that occurred on the WP&Y. The engine came new with 1 11" air pump with a second being added by SVRy in the late 20's. WP&Y changed these out to cross compound pumps. We recently acquired 2 11" pumps with the thought of putting one on as original. They did not have power reverse which was added by WP&Y. Maybe this would go away. Present head light on 19 is smaller, and the original dynamos were a more obscure brand called "Locolite". The injectors appear to be Ohio's in the early photos with the engineers in front of the cab. Both injectors on 19 are Hancock Inspirators inside the cab. The air brake stand is updated on 19. I'd love to see 20 restored to as like delivered from Alco as possible. But that is just one man's opinion, which includes wood burning.
