There actually was a plan to put a small tourist railroad in as part of the museum at the AB Sugar refinery at Puunene on Maui. It would have takne visitors out into part of the sugar cane fields. The plan died when the company found out how much it would cost. The locomotive (0-4-2 Claus Spreckels) and one of the original passenger cars are still on the island. It's my hope when the sugar mill closes the plant is turned into a museum and maybe at that time a small railroad operation could be built.
