Two hobbies ,vintage train rides and hon3 modeling. I started in 1968 riding the D&RGW narrow gauge out of Durango to Silverton ,a 12 yr old on family vacation , and got a MDC hon3 locomotive for Christmas. Fast forward to 2005 and while on vacation to Dolores looking at goose #5 with a few other members of the TWMRC a model train club in Texas we decided to collect dirt samples and cinders from the row to build the scenery of a modeled Dolores. Later during an open house we had one person tell us it was a nice model but the gravel roads and rock work were the wrong color. I told them the model was built from actual rock, cinder and soil samples from Dolores and they told me I was still wrong. I still uses location dirt work in modeling. James in Texas
