post 1968 Narrow Gauge operations.
Once the shackles of the "mainline" operation were removed from the books, there were some significantly better years on the Narrow Gauge. Until 1981.
This, thanks to a brilliantly successful marketing campaign conceived by none other than the D&RGW's PR deptartment. I refer to Rio Grandeland, and the "Return to Yesterday", complete with colorful and new steel coaches, open observation cars, and, of course, those neat trademark fake diamond stacks, which were recognized all over the world!
