There WAS a post stating that #496 had been found in a barn. IIRC, it was along the old
DSP&P line over Alpine Pass, near Buena Vista.
Yet another post - about two years ago - described a proposed move of the RR equip-
ment at Knott's to a new location at Magic Mountain, with a narrow-gauge connection
with the Fillmore & Western at Piru.
IIRC, there was also a post stating that an S.P. AC-9 had been found in a barn near Alturas, CA, that belonged to a blacksmith who once worked part-time for the railroad and later was a volunteer on the engine crew of the American Freedom Train (which may explain the skirts he added to the engine in the mid-1990's, along with the booster that was salvaged from ex-T&P #610 in 1975)
