Nice photos. I got to see 493 inside the Durango RH in 1994. I got to sit in the cab as it was set-up for viewing. It was neat to do so, since it was the last engine we had seen in service.
I wish we had more time to look you up in Silverton Fritz. The elevation was getting to me, and as it turned out it was more than the elevation causing me some concern. We were there to catch the two trains coming in on Sept 11th, drove around the town once, and left. On the 12th we rode, but our train was late and we had little time to do anything. I planned ahead and rented one of those golf carts. By the time we got that and grabbed a sandwich at the deli, the second train had arrived. I dumped the wife off to shop awhile, and I headed to the depot to get the second train backing to the wye. Then drove the golf cart to the wye getting our train pulling out of the wye, before the other one backed in.
Then headed for the train before returning the golf cart. Paid for 2 hours but only got to use it one. If I had not rented it though I would have gotten almost no shots. Shot a ton off the train though, as we had the Knight Sky which has two platforms you can use, unlike the regular cars where its forbidden to stand in the platform areas.
