Most of the K-37s were complete when they arrived in Durango. I would imagine each had a few parts missing hear and there but nothing that could not have been replaced. I suspect 493 & 498 donated heavily to 482 when she was aquired from the C&TS for 497. 499 went to the Royal Gorge in trade for 486 and had to be presentable so she kept all her major parts and then some. I imagine anything left usable on 493 and 498 went to replace worn parts on 486 after that leaving the boiler , frame, and other odds and ends that are the remains of the 493 & 498 today. One report in one of the previous threads on K-37s says that the boilers were in good shape at the end of service but today who knows. 493 had an asbestos abatement several years ago but only because the stuff was getting wet and leaking off the engine. Not sure if 498 ever got the same treatment as it is hidden behind the roundhouse out of site and out of mind.
