I'm surprised that we haven't totally killed this conversation yet, it
seems to pop up once or twice a year yielding 12,000 posts. The C&TS is at
a disadvantage to the D&S on pure logistics ie location, hotels, and so
forth. Marketing has sucked, yada, yada, yada. I'll say it again, a family
of four, hotel, food, gas and tickets, is going push $1000 to ride the
C&TS if that's all they're going to do. So, and I see mention on the 2015
schedule, Cumbres Turns. I'm driving from Durango to the Springs, let's
say. A 9:30 AM departure let's me ride to the top and back and still gets
me somewhere at a decent hour AND it doesn't cost me a $100 a seat. Sure,
there's still a demand for full line trips but if you can run two turns
a day out of Chama that should make money.
