I'd heard mention of "the loop" before but was unsure of the details. That would be a heckuva a cool trip.
Is the line between Elkins and Spruce used for anything other than tourists?

Yes, I meant "west". It's amazing how much unused rail is still on the ground out there. It's quite a bit different from Colorado where all abandoned/unused track was removed (except for Tennessee Pass). Can you imagine the Gunnison lines, South Park, and RGS just left in place?
