The track does need some work. Right now it can handle passenger service at 45 MPH, I believe. The railroad that now owns it has been operating on it since 1998. They spent $16 million upgrading the line. It was in horrible shape when the BNSF abandoned it. Now that they own it, I'm sure they're investing more money into it.
From start in Sapulpa to Midwest City is 97 miles and will take 2 hours and 55 minutes. After the Phase I, one year trial period, they will assess the needs and decide whether to continue. If so they'll rapidly upgrade the line and move the bases to Tulsa and OKC.
The sales agreement when the City bought the Sooner Sub had the BNSF agreeing to allow access through to Tulsa from 100 years of sale.
I believe train service one-way will be $15 plus the cost of a shuttle to OKC from Midwest City and from Tulsa to Sapulpa.
