Did the OLC rebuild the middle fork line with the rail that the SVRy was taking out at that time, or did they get newer rail somewhere elsewhere? I would guess that relaying rail also means relaying all the switches, which would be some kind of a job as far as I'm concerned. Did they replace ties like the SVRy did? From the little bit of exploring I've done on that line and it's spurs, it looks like they spent a lot less time and money on trackage into the hills than any of the rail spurs between Baker and Bates. The grades are hard to find and harder to follow. Seems like the absolute least amount of effort was put into the grade work. The mainline down the river seems fairly nice, with some decent cuts and fills that are still easily visible. Still have large sections where I have no idea where it was though. I have found RR grade as far as Jungle Creek, but not sure if the rail line went much further down the middle fork than this.
