South Pacific Coast did not use red wheels... There are some color paintings by well known railroad artists, where the train is generally correct, but EVERY color shown is wrong.

The first locomotive, No 1, purchased by a predicessor company was wine, style 1, so wine tender, frame, drivers, domes, pilot...

The next two were Lake, style 1... lake is a brownish wine...

Beyond that they were green in the current Baldwin style until the 1890's when SP ordered engines in black.

SPC passenger cars were Tuscan. Cabooses were bright yellow through about 1884, then painted to match the passenger cars.

These are based on paint sammpling on the surviving cars.
