One key assembly to be recreated is the leaf spring hangers. During visits in 2011 and 2012 we spent some time with 1006 in Silver Plume, measuring these hangers (and many, many other components). Here's an example:
The curved hangers were flame cut from 3" thick steel, to match the profile of the original. Here are the hangers and the "shackels" that Rich has machined from 5/8" plate.
This is the mill setup to drill the mounting holes in the brackets
The completed assembly, shown with mounting bolts, shackle and a wood template made to check the range of leaf spring motion:
