......the "Reading For Comprehension Award" for the day.
For Gregg: Yes, the D&RGW offically ran the wintertime Silverton Mixed until Feb. (?), 1953. However there were many times when it didn't make it because of snow slides in the canyon. The last train in 1951 ran on Dec 26. The next train didn't make it until sometime on May. Due to additional slides and flooding, regular service didn't start up until July.
