A recent study commissioned by the commission (grammatically correct but reads like.....) showed that the economic impact of the Railroad on the area served is in the neighborhood of $14 million annually.
I'd bet they are comfortable with that but the goal would be to have the railroad become self sustaining with the state donations shrinking as a result.
Folks, think of your ticket prices, meals and lodging as more than a vacation expense. It goes towards that mentioned economic impact, helping to create jobs and elevate the standard of living in remote but beautiful parts of Colorado and New Mexico.
