When the A. A. Denny was built, it looked like this:
Stockton & Ione #1 "Stockton" - Builders Photograph
The "Stockton" is one of only a few Mason Bogies with extraordinarily ornate paint (by Mason standards). It is currently unknown if the "Stockton" operated on the S&I. I've found mention of operations and material being moved to the front on the line during construction, but I haven't found confirmation that a locomotive was operating. After the S&I collapsed in 1875 the locomotive was sold at Sheriff's Auction and wound up on the S&WW, later C&PS. During its life in Washington it was rebuilt from an 0-4-4T into a 0-6-4T.
