Imagining what Mr. Kalmbach might have said... "This month's model of the month award goes to Dan Markoff of Las Vegas, NV for his 12"=1' model of a 3-foot narrow gauge combination car. Working from his own scale drawings, he built the car following prototype practice, board-by-board, using scale lumber he milled himself. He cast all the necessary detail parts as well. The trucks are built up from individual parts, the wheels being the only commercial components used in the entire model. Dan hand painted and lettered the car, taking great pains to accurately reproduce the elaborate striping of the period. Rounding out the car is a fully appointed interior including a working stove and functioning kerosene lamps. This is Mr. Markoff's second attempt at scratchbuilding, the first being a flatcar in the same scale and gauge."
Well done Dan! Looking forward to seeing it finished.
