Dan Markoff,
You train projects remind me of my dad's long term basement projects. The first took seven years to build a highwing all metal single homebuildt plane of his own design. Then he turned around an designed and built a highwing twin engine that took 10 years to get in the air. Oh he was an aerodynamic engieer for Boeing, His solo was also his first plane ride in a primary glider at Ohio State in the early 30's. Then he desidned and build two all wood single seat VW pwered low wings which took about 2 years each. Only the first two planes are still in flying condition.
