I'm surprised at that, the driving straight up to the disabled train at track speed? I don't pretend to know your regulations but ours clearly stated...

"...relief locomotive to enter the section, run to a pre-arranged and clearly defined point at a safe distance from the disabled train, and thence proceed, piloted by a crew-member of the disabled train, to the train."
