Jerry,
Although I agree with you that the diamond stacks have no business on the K-28's. You brought up the analogy of the P-51 in polka dots, which I wouldn't want to look at either.
But let's take a look at that. Let's say, just for this discussion that there was a Squadron of P-51's with Polka Dots as their Squadron Colors. As much as you and I both hate the Polka Dots, if someone who owned a P-51 wanted to paint it temporarily to the Polka-Dot Squadron color to honor that era of history, they would be completely historically correct. What the hell it's just paint and just temporary. Let them have their fun.
It is obvious that you are very passionate about this topic and I am not trying to argue with you.
But if a few rail fans wanted to but the 1960's diamond stacks back on for a week and have fun trying to recreate their childhood or past then who's the victim? The Fans of that era have fun, the RR gets more riders, and the town gets more visitors. And you and I don't have to go.
After a week or a weekend they take them off and everything if back to normal.
But actively persuading friends and family not to go see the diamond stacks because you don't like them seems a bit harsh.
Also you comparison of a diamond stack to the horrific events of WWII is a bit silly.
Take comfort that it's only talk, on a WEB Page, and that they likelihood of this ever happening is slim to none.
