I was on the train out of Antonito. In the past, when the trains out of Chama get real long, I have seen 2 gons. I agree with Greg, nice to see 488 alive. Sadly, my "girl", 489 is dead in Antonito. New cylinder rings are required to get her going again.
We had some fun switching at Osier Saturday. The Antonito train stopped short of the loop at Osier. The Chama train brought up 3 coaches, a gon & 3 more coaches (7 cars) into the east part of the loop. Our Engine popped off the consist to pull forward and back into the loop to grab the end 3 coaches, then return with them to grow our consist from 7 cars to 10. The Chama train then backed to its train now making it a 12 car train, while we then pulled forward to have lunch. The delay we experienced in the switching was good, as it gave the Chama eaters a little more time to finish their meal, freeing up table space for us from Antonito.
