Dave--I think your picture of the tram tower is the one east of Placerville that the BLM tore down about 1999 or 2000. Both the sawpit one and the Placerville one were identical designs. The Sawpit tram tower is about 1/4 mile before the town of Sawpit and your map shows the town site, not where the tower is located.

After the BLM tore the first tower down, they got a lot of flack from the locals and they put some money and effort in saving the one we worked on. They acquired title through the mining company who still owned the property and had to satisfy environmental cleanup requirements.
