Actually being discussed on a different site at the moment.
The daily train from Globe to Bowie, AZ and return as the Tomahawk ran until the end of 1953 was passenger service was discontinued. This was not a mixed train, but a passenger train. Originally steam, then a McKenn car, then back to steam, finally a new GE 70 ton (5512 or 5118), RPO/Baggage/Express and a coach. This was not a mixed train but an actual passenger train from what I can find.
The train from Reno/Sparks to Mina was a mixed until some time in the 1950s? I think this might have been daily using two sets of equipment with a layover at Mina. Supposed to have been dropped in the 1950s, probably after losing the RPO contract.
Three different mixed trains ran out of Benson, AZ. Mondays and Thursdays Benson-Fairbank-Patagonia and return. Tuesdays and Fridays Benson-Fairbank-(Ft. Huachuca?) and return. Wednesdays and Saturdays Benson-Fairbank-Tombstone and return. Branch to Tombstone abandoned in Aug 1960; branch to Patagonia abandoned in 1962. The line to Patagonia was restricted to small power so GE 70T 5115 worked these from new to end of service with a combine in place of a caboose. Steam while available substituted when the 5115 was down. What steam worked to Patagonia - the small 2500s like the Cloudcroft branch?
Of note the former EP&SW mainline saw most of SP's passenger trains in the 1950s. When the original SP main was equipped with CTC the passeger trains moved to that line and the EP&SW main from outside El Paso to Bisbee Jct. was abandoned in the early 1960s.
The Dawson branch saw a tri-weekly(?) mixed train into the mid 1960s from Tucumcari to French and return. This was the line that supplied coal to SP on the former EP&SW lines until the coal and the contract ran out in 1950. Not sure what power or cars used, or why this service last so long.
TN&O had mixed trains late to Eagle Pass and between Harwood and Gonzales. I believe these were assigned the small modern 4-4-0 (E-23?) though a SP 44 ton was assigned late to one of them.
The last mixed train on SP- Pacific lines so far appears to be the run between Lordsburg, NM and Clifton, AZ. No idea as to power or equipment.
