The E&P combine is nearing completion so I thought I would share what the name plates look like for the sides of the car. The name ELSA is that of my mother.

The panels are done for each side and will be installed as soon as the color coat to the car is fully applied. The name ELSA is in gold leaf. After the color coat is finished I will start painting the other scroll work on the car. I should point out that the art work was all done without a stencil.

The name panel work and scroll work generally was done by Loren Jahn of Reno, who is one of the most talented artists I have ever known. I am extremely appreciative to him for his help in this project. It should also be mentioned that the artwork we are putting on the combine is based on the E&P cars as delivered by Billmeyer & Smalls.

Loren is also one of the engineers at the NSRM Carson City, and has been doing steam locomotive service since the 1980s.
