David,

All of the flues go Usually in to the boiler from the smokebox end, the fire box would have to be the same length as the tubes so you could install them. Usually the firebox is approx 1/3rd the length of the flues. One other thing is if you are only going to get 1 or 2 percent greater efficiency than it is not worth the cost, if you use a standard tube of constant size just about any shop could replace a flue without any special and costly equipment.
