... And if Mike Spera hadn't made his way to the CRRM this may not have taken place. Jack is the CMO and Mike is the Master Mechanic. Mike headed up 491's resurrection collaborating with Jack. Mike has more knowledge of steam than the majority of us old farts that are over twice his age. He is as responsible as Jack for 491's current condition. There are some serious components on 491 that Mike has donated that enabled 491 to run. You're right in saying there were many many others involved in bringing 491 up to operating condition under Mike's tutelage.
He even let me apply some cab numbers.
We are grateful Jack and Mike are alive and well at the CRRM.
