After reading the responses, they are ALL right! I've shot from the end, the middle and the front and gotten great shots from all positions. Depends on what you plan to do with the pics. Above your fireplace? Saved for posterity? Family album?
Close to the loco shows the action of it pulling. End of train is dramatic as it rounds the horseshoe curve of the highline and other various open shots especially as you get closer to Silverton.
Be sure to include people in your shots. 30 years from now it will show the differences of the generations.
Choose to ride on a Saturday or Sunday and you'll be pleasantly surprised how less crowded it is! Monday or Tuesday in the summer is packed.
