Hesston Steam Museum acquired in 1987, a 1941 built CKD 0-4-0-T 600mm gauge engine from Germany. It showed chalk markings in the boiler and firebox, so apparently was never fired up. It was built during WW2 for a road building firm. Their autobahn building project was cancelled, and the locomotive was stored near Winsen (SE of Hamburg) where it sat from 1942 to 1969. It was purchased and exported for a proposed excursion near Novato, Ca which never came to pass. It was stored for another 17 years, unused until we bought it.. It was our regular service engine for many years, now has been reflued and driver tires turned due to to mainly right hand turns.
