Unless you are landing or departing downwind (neither easy) you have mountains close on each side. Wind generally pretty brisk one way or the other, often depending on the season. I used to fly with John O'Daniel pretty much daily .... he flew a Helio Courier so with a decent wind we could take off vertically!
