What you mean-um "occasionally a few good train pix", Kemo Sabe?
Lots of WONDERFUL train pix would be more like it - train pix that both recorded history and are beautiful
enough to be worthy of their frequent appearance in magazines and books and on calendars and web sites.
Matthew's photos are of an entirely different sort and at an entirely different level - fine art that is worthy of display in any gallery anywhere!
And don't forget the challenges that "Old School" curmudgeons faced, John - especially when shooting color. Remember how s-l-o-w Kodachrome 10 was, and how
Contrasty? Modern digital cameras allow artists like Matthew to record scenes you could capture only in your memory, and today's charter organizers can arrange models & props and schedule trains to take optimum advantage of early-morning and late-evening light, whereas most "old schoolers" were helplessly dependent on schedules that suited the railroad - and the chance juxtaposition of man and machine - in a place that was not "off limits" to the photographer
...
Thank You AND Matthew for sharing your visions and artistry with us!!
