Dave:
The "offline" message on www.cumbresandtoltec.com was placed there last fall, on the assumption that all external links went to that page. As you have noticed, there are a few out there that bypass that page and go to index3.html (and a few go to other pages as well).
Don Richter and I, helped by people like Bob Ground, have worked over the past few months to get links and search engines updated. And the railroad made the decision early on to honor mail and orders from the old brochures and web site. So someone that sees the web site and mails a ticket order gets the old price - phone callers are advised of the new price.
As to the confusion factor, there's not much we can do without a lawsuit. The previous operator owns the domain name cumbresandtoltec.com, and his webmaster is no longer managing the site, and has previously been reluctant to delete the entire site on our request (a perfectly reasonable decision).
We'll muddle through somehow. Search engines are picking us up, and cumbrestoltec.com gets over 350 visitors per day (and growing very rapidly).
