To be accurate, it was filmed on the D&RGW Silverton branch, not the D&S, except for the scene mentioned on Lightner Creek and one more on the RGS. One of the scenes of pulling the locomotive through the sage brush is now the Ft. Lewis campus above Durango, and the street scene of pulling the engine was Blair Street in Silverton.
