Our Backshop construction is moving forward. Roll-up doors are installed now. Two thirds of the interior sub-floor grading is complete and some exterior gradings was also just completed. Ordinarily we would be snowed in by now, but we are having a milder, dryer winter which has allowed us to continue some work. We have some donated large lathes and other tools to install once we have a concrete floor, hopefully the coming summer. We also have 440VAC three phase power to the building.
We are persuing grants applications to allow us to complete the Backshop asap, including funds to hire our CMO full time. Our Backshop will be used for rebuilding SVRy #20 once the shop is complete. We also plan to do work for other railroads. Our CMO will also be teaching Machine Shop classes in cooperation with Blue Mtn. Community College. We are anxious to get started on #20 rebuild because we anticipate an additional 4.5 miles of track in the next 2 ~ 3 years and will need additional motive power. Hiring our CMO will be our first full time employee. The rest of us are all volunteers.
