Everett, well stated. Over the years I've used a number of unfired vessels
essentially to the fired code for high pressure nitrogen storage and never
considered the implications of the thermal cycles. The pressure cycles on
my applications typically run 150-600 psi or 200-1200 psi in very high
cycle use so the pressure growth/shrink is measurable. But what we don't
see is the added stress of the hot/cold issues of a locomotive.
