Ah what a coincidence - Those are many of my customers/friends at the annual Rocky Mountain get together that CORSA (Corvair Society of America) clubs have in that area. I would have been there with them but just couldn't afford the time. The event floats around and I think this year was hosted by Timothy Shortle, a resident of Durango.
Corvairs and steam have a long history. If you visit Sumpter (McEwen) many times during the season you will see my daily driver 64 Greenbriar in the McEwen yards. I drive it the 750 mile round trip to bring my wife's swap meet stuff for the Sumpter flea market. Always dependable.
Ken Schmeltzer, Jack Holst, Vern Vasey, Bob Murphy, Alex Ceres are just a few railroad notables who owned Corvairs - and don't foregt that Darius Kinsey, noted logging and rail photographer, owned Franklins - the forerunner to the Corvair.
