They must have tried more than once. My information came from a member of the museum and had to do with an attempt in the early 80's. That engine would be perfect for a museum. The #6 was used for a couple of years on a tourist operation in Concrete WA. Ran on a segment of the former BN branch to Concrete out of Sedro Wooley.
