Mining is not the problem. The lack of forced reclamation is. Without mining you would not have a car to drive or electricity in your house. In Colorado, if a property owner doesn't own the mineral rights, a mining company can require the owner to remove all structures in 30 days so mining can continue through the property! This happened to the Colorado Highway Dept. at Blackhawk, CO. JP
