After opening day are there any other potential operations of the 315 we might be interested in?
I recently received my copy of the March 21, 2014 issue of "The Smokebox", the newsletter published by the
Durango Railroad Historical Society (DRHS). This "newsletter" is really a 12-page long mini-magazine -- it has several articles and many color photos.
On page 1, George Niederauer has an article titled "Major New Initiatives - 2014". George describes how the DRHS is working towards meeting its six stated objectives. He also provides the budgets to restore seven railcars.
Next is a four-page article by Marc Kasprowicz titled "Rail Car Frenzy - 2014". This article describes seven railcars the DRHS hopes to acquire and restore. (Six of the seven cars are the property of Lindsay Ashby.)
Page 6 has a Jerry Hoffer article that describes the Silverton Northern Oil Shed project. Page 7 has an article titled "315 Preparation for Spring 2014" by Dennis D'Alessandro. Pages 8 thru 12 contain an article by George that documents their progress on the Emma Sweeny; the article is extensively illustrated with many photos taken by George, Kohler McInnis, and Steve Lewis.
Reading about all the projects the DRHS has underway made me understand this part of the "315 Preparation for Spring 2014" article:

"Depending on our work schedule, the 315 may not run for a couple of years after this coming May excursion."
