I have done the fireman’s school, the engineers school and am going back for the advanced class. It is well worth it.

Sunday, the first day you spend in class and then orientation/initial training in the yard.

Monday you have two trips to Cumbres. Two fireman are in the cab at all times so you are in the cab 1/3 of the time.

Tuesday you cover the whole road from Chama to Antonito.

Wednesday from Antonito to Chama. Sometime Tuesday or Wednesday you will have a turn in the engineer’s seat.

We generally stay at the Hotel and Shops when we do the school or at the Chama Station Inn when Deb is along. Both are right across from the railroad.
